I'm interested in how ecological and evolutionary processes interact to shape physiological evolution. Broadly, my research program seeks to investigate the mechanisms that facilitate and constrain adaptation to novel environmental pressures. I'm particularly interested in testing the predictability of evolution, the functional consequences of genetic variation, and the role of plasticity in adaptive evolution. To address these questions, I integrate organismal biology, host-microbiome interactions, and next-generation sequencing in both the lab and field.
